SIDC’s greatest asset (next to the children, of course) is its staff. They live and breathe the center’s mission every day.
We value our caregivers and support them in many ways:
- Provide competitive compensation and benefits packages.
- Maintain lower teacher to child ratios than required by Washington State childcare licensing regulations.
- Organize several appreciation events throughout the year.
The support for our caregivers is reflected in SIDC’s low turnover rates. More than half of SIDC’s teachers have been on staff for an average of 12 years.
Our head teachers have degrees in Early Childhood Education, or a related field, or possess substantial experience in childcare and development. A majority of our staff has college degrees or advanced training. All teachers receive continuing in-service training sponsored by SIDC.
All staff are regularly certified in First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens training. In addition, they are supported by an on staff registered nurse who receives monthly visits from a consulting Public Health Nurse.
